Studiomapp flies to the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi, on request of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment for the United Arab Emirates
In January, we had the pleasure to take part in CLIX (CLimate Innovation Exchange). The event reached its third edition and is an initiative of the World Future Energy Summit within the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (11 January 2020 – 18 January 2020). CLIX is a global marketplace made to support the UAE’s Ministry of Climate Change and Environment strategy to enable the sourcing and funding of climate change solutions and technologies. During his stay, Leonardo Alberto Dal Zovo, cofounder of Studiomapp with Angela Corbari, met Nicola Lener, Italian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, and an ICE delegation of the Dubaian Agency. CLIX and WFES have proven to be an important chance to meet the representatives of the global market.

In this occasion, Leonardo Alberto Dal Zovo presented PipeAI, our project on oil & gas infrastructures monitoring. He took part to the panel dedicated to space and sustainability, since we are working with private companies and public entities to help the reach the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) outlined by the United Nations in the Agenda 2030. We are the only Italian startup whose commitment and results are formally recognized in the report “Digital with purpose”, compiled and presented to the UN by Deloitte an GeSI in September.
We were able to reach such high level results thanks to the use of cutting-edge technologies that enable us to apply artificial intelligence to satellite and drone imagery. Our algorithms have been awarded by international institutions like the U.S. Department of Defence and the NATO Communications and Information Agency. Moreover, these solutions have been tested by Snam, Italian energy infrastructure company that operates in 9 European countries; Acea, a multiutility operative in the management and development of networks and services in the water, energy and environmental sectors; Italferr, Italian State Railways Group engineering firm, and Gruppo delle Ferrovie dello Stato. The strong will that drives those companies to look for innovative solutions comes from the need to monitor assets efficiently, while reducing CO2 emissions and risks for operators.

“Our 2020 starts with an invitation for an event of international importance. This will be an year of expansion and further development. CLIX was a great opportunity to meet UAE institutions and a fast-growing environmentally-aware market focusing on the innovation and artificial intelligence” says Leonardo Dal Zovo, “Italian institutions too are active in the area to support and promote Italian companies, like the embassy and ICE, with an eye to future events and opportunities such as EXPO 2020. We hope to see energy corporations more and more involved with sustainable innovation, with the support of startups, to boost competitiveness and efficiency, in Italy and at an international level”.
